‘Object of Sound’ Live

We recorded our episode on movie soundtracks live in front of a gathered audience at Wythe Hotel as part of On Air Fest 2022, the premiere event for audio creatives and enthusiasts. Hanif and New York Times critic at large Wesley Morris took to the stage to talk about four of their all-time favorite Black movie soundtracks—resulting in laughter, outcry, and a passionate debate on the merits of Boyz II Men.

On the web and on air

Produced in collaboration with PRX, our two seasonal specials, “This Summer of Live Music” and “Christmas at Home with Hanif Abdurraqib” were distributed not only on Sonos Radio and podcast networks, but also to radio stations across the country, like KCRW, WBEZ, and more.

“GET READY FOR THIS”

For our thematic episode on ‘The Sounds of the Game,’ we sent our host, Hanif, to a Cleveland Cavaliers game during March Madness. The episode centered around the acoustic experience of taking in a sports game—the cheers of the fans, the squeaking of the sneakers, and (of course) the music in the arena.

Why ‘Object’ of Sound?

When music lives in the air, it’s one thing, but when you know the undercurrents and the ideas that went into a song, when you can feel its weight, it becomes more meaningful. The title for the show was inspired by our love of vinyl and liner notes, the ideas and inspirations that feed the creative process. We build each episode like its own limited edition release.

“work x work brings an expansive knowledge of the audio world, back by unparalleled experience and strategic insight. they continue to be trusted partners as we evolve our direction in the space.”
