a new flagship

Sonos engaged work x work to develop signature programming and strategy for their new content platform, Sonos Radio. In response, we created Object of Sound, a flagship weekly show, and Sonos’ first-ever ongoing podcast. Object of Sound is a deep dive into the music of the moment and the stories surrounding the songs of today, hosted by poet and cultural critic Hanif Abdurraqib.

work x work guided the process from concept through execution including titling, casting the host, talent booking, audio production and design. We developed an audience and marketing strategy building a community of artists, creators and listeners to rally around music discovery and deeper listening. First episodes include interviews with Moses Sumney, Sudan Archives, Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, Kimberly Drew and Jenna Wortham covering topics from cover songs to afrofuturism. The series launched January 15th on all podcast platforms, Sonos Radio and Mixcloud.

the show where we bring you in tune with the music that shapes our culture.

Each episode is studded with personal interviews, profound questions and unparalleled playlists with musicians, writers, and thinkers.

Why ‘Object’ of Sound?

When music lives in the air, it’s one thing, but when you know the undercurrents and the ideas that went into a song, when you can feel its weight, it becomes more meaningful. The title for the show was inspired by our love of vinyl and liner notes, the ideas and inspirations that feed the creative process. We build each episode like its own limited edition release.

“work x work brings an expansive knowledge of the audio world, back by unparalleled experience and strategic insight. they continue to be trusted partners as we evolve our direction in the space.”
