PRESS RELEASE

Sonos and work x work present ‘Call & Response’ Live at Newport Folk Festival

July 23, 2021

Sonos and work x work are pleased to present a special four-part ‘Call & Response‘ series, captured live from Newport Folk Festival. Throughout the weekend, ‘Call & Response’ will host interviews with artists, festival organizers and audiences, interrogating what folk means today with leading voices of the genre.

‘Call & Response’ draws upon the blues tradition of communal music making and listening. Hosted by Nashville-based musician and poet Adia Victoria, each episode is a back and forth between Adia and her guests, between their present work, and the lineage of musical ancestors that came before them, and between Adia and you. Season one guests included Rhiannon Giddens, Brandi Carlile, Kiese Laymon, and Brittany Howard.

The Newport Folk Festival episodes will feature the following artists and organizers, and will drop the day after recording, on the following schedule:

> Sunday, July 25 | Jay Sweet, Newport Folk Festival’s Executive Producer
> Monday, July 26 | Margo Price, Artist
>Tuesday, July 27 | Allison Russell, Artist

Subscribe now on AppleSpotify, Mixcloud, or wherever you listen.

‘Call & Response’ will return in full for its second season on Thursday, September 9.
